I don't think it's anymore expensive than having a dog, difference is all the cost is up front when setting up a tank. Let's be clear -- it isn't a CHEAP hobby. Especially not if you do it right. I routinely price tanks and equipment, live rock and sand for customers and it's generally about 30-35 dollars a gallon for a decent mid range setup. Cost goes up from there.
