pleco equivalent saltwater fish..?

I’m not talking about its ability to eat algae but the look itself for me pleco looks like the most amazing fish out there

In terms of freshwater fish, plecos were one of my favorites as well. Alongside cichlids. Look into blennys, they may be close for what you're looking for :)
 
The walking batfish came to mind for me. Never had one so here is what can be found from Live Aquaria:

They are not easy to find, but I have seen them in LFS a few times. One would come right up to the water line and eat mysis from your fingers.
 
Armored cats don't live in saltwater, but there are a few catfish that live in saltwater. Plotosidae is one family.
