Pls help to identify Angel fish species

Hi I found this guy at a local store always hiding behind rocks since I bought him a week ago, he looks playful and come out when ppl are not around, he hasn’t eaten flakes (spirulina based) or other flakes, Tank is newly started and nitrogen cycle just got established so I don’t want to take chances with live food, I feed only few tiny pellets to my clowns once a day, they happily snack them.. some times this angelfish chases off the camel shrimps, so shy for the past week or so. Any advise as to what to do with this fish

No picture or video. I’d offer a lot more than flakes. Different frozen foods, masstick, mysis, reef frenzy, rods food, etc.
Angelfish can be picky depending on the species and can take a bit to acclimate to tank life so offering a variety of foods is crucial. I’d also do more research before buying a fish as well. Knowing the species will help determine a lot about the fish.

Hey google search says it’s Centropyge flavipectoralis this is the exact fish that I got. Not sure why video is not showing up..

Black not doesn’t have a yellow fin but mine has got one.. guess I’ll be returning this guy back to the stores .. never thought he’d be a rare fish

Looks like midnight angel to me too. They sometimes have color on their pectoral fin depending on the region.

Feed frozen food. LRS is premium. Your fish will thank you.

Black not doesn’t have a yellow fin but mine has got one.. guess I’ll be returning this guy back to the stores .. never thought he’d be a rare fish

I wouldn’t say rare but just not super popular. As long as you give it a healthy mix of frozen foods you should be fine

IMHO, not very colorful. I personally wouldn’t take up real estate in my tank with it. ;(

The aquarium guy said that colour changes to violet gradually as the fish ages, I thought that was cool and price was real cheap for him for 3$

Yes, I saw ‘both’ colors on photos on the web. I always pull out my cell phone at my LFS and do a little research. Whenever I don’t I end up with something non-compatible, or a regrettable purchase. Best wishes!

True impulse purchase but as of today he is healthy and playful so I ve decided to keep him (try my best to keep him happy) learn something new like how this species behaves in captive environment which is not known much.. thanks for ur reply peace
