Hi All,

I had a generic coral question about removing frag plugs.

Do people always remove the frag plugs from their corals if they want to place them on rocks? or do they stick the entire plug (minus stem) on the rock.
Very interested to hear what people do here.

So far I have always removed the frag plug if i put it anywhere on the rocks. Clearly the plug stays on if its going to sit in the substrate.

People do all three, sometimes people will drill out a bunch of 5/8" holes in their rocks too so they can insert the plug stems and even skip gluing sometimes. If you you have move corals it can be handy if they haven't encrusted past the plug base yet.

In my tank I usually cut the stem off for highly encrusted SPS but everythibg is completely removed from the plug where possible. The plug is often a great substrate for pests so I prefer to remove it before dipping new corals.
