Plumbing 180 gallon dual overflow

Hey friends. Total newb here. Just finishing up our build. Space is a little tight so I’m wondering if can use a union to join the piping together INSIDE of the overflow boxes. Is that alright or a big no no?? Thanks in advance for any help.

Which piping? Two overflow returns (not including the emergency) or the overflow and emergency returns?

If there's space in the overflow, I don't see why not. It would seem a bit cumbersome, but I don't think it will materially impact the performance of your overflow.

What problem are you trying to solve? I've had a dual overflow 180 in the past, but I just can't picture the space issue you're describing.
