I'm in the planning stages of my (hopefully) permanent build. :)

I want to turn my 18"x18"x11" nano into a display refugium.

I just need to know if I should drain from the display into the refugium then to the sump then back to the display. Or, drain the refugium and the display to the sump and have two return pumps.

It would seem that I would have way too much flow through the refugium to go directly from the display to it.

Also, I really want to see both tanks lit at the same time at least in the few hours I am home in the evening. Any issues I should be aware of doing this?

I have been asking a ton of questions lately and appreciate the help.

This will be the last hurdle to jump and I will start a build thread. I promise!

Your light schedule on a sump and/or a fuge should be OPPOSITE that of the DT light schedule.

It balances pH bc the fuge is adsorbing CO2 while the DT lights are out and all the corals in the DT are respirating CO2

I don't imagine they would be too much issue if you overlapped the light cycle on the display and the refugium by several hours.
Starting the refugium around 6 once you are home and keeping it running most of the night and having your display tank and around 10-ish under blue lights.
