hi all, i am looking for advice on how to plumb my refugium to my main sump. overflow from tank come to sump which houses a skimmer . i bought a 10 gallon tank to set up a refugium and am thinking get two pumps of same GPH. one to draw from the main sump and the other to dump it back in. also, when i tried with two dissimilar pumps, i noticed all the chaeto was getting caught in the pump, so now I am stumped. need advice.

Overflow. Drill a hole in your fuge, put a bulkhead in it and put it on a stand just above the level of your sump. There are plenty of videos on how to drill a tank. It is not hard. Then you use a power head to pump water into the fuge, and it will overflow through the bulkhead and back into your sump. Simple gravity fed loop. 2 pumps will never work because their flow will never match exactly. One will eventually flow faster than the other and you’ll either overflow your fuge or run it dry. Here’s a picture of my 40 gallon fuge. You can see the overflow bulkhead on the right side back of the tank, indicated by the red circle. Blue circle is the feed line attached to my power head.
