Plumbing a sump

Hi guys, i was planning to use 2.5cm/1inc pvc pipe for my sump drain pipe will then be enough??.My aquariums is 180l around 50 gallons,pump will be 2000litars or 528 gallons per hour. Will 2.5cm or 1 inc drain be enough?

My 90 is running 3/4 right now. For a 50, it may be too big for your pump to keep up. You can always install a gate valve with unions if your flow is too fast.

what style over flow are you planning on? 1" is far more than enough, if you are using a durso or beanimal you can definitely get away with 3/4" and 1" would be too much. Like @CMMorgan mentioned if you do go with 1" put a gate valve or even a regular valve to help dial the flow in. Even if you use 3/4" you'll still want valves in so you can control things.

I will use herbi style overflow i was searching through the net and i on some forums many people said that 1 inc is too small for drain pipe

for that particular setup it may very well have been too small. It all depends on what your turn over goals are. If you are shooting for say 5-7 times per hour (more than enough) you only need to move up to 350 gph through those pipes which isn't a whole lot.

I just ordered 1.5 inc bulkhead better be safe then sorry i will have gate valve anyway if it's too big i will regulate it with it.

for a 50 gallon tank you think a 1.5 in drain is safer? I disagree with this logic. That's way too large and it will run very noisy as you'll never achieve a full siphon with that large a diameter. good luck tho.

I don't no much about plumbing i will try it if doesn't work i will change it
