I'm going to put a larger sump(55 gal) in spare bedroom. My concern is plumbing and pump. I currently have 20,long sump under stand and my drain is 1 in and my return is 3/4 with a 724 GPH pump. Should I increase drain size and return size. The drain will go through the wall then elbow and run maybe 3 ft to sump. My return mill pump up 2 ft, elbow, run 6 ft, elbow, through wall, elbow, back into tank. The pump I'm looking at is rated for 1300 GPH. Any thoughts or advice

That should work just fine. If you are willing to spend a little more I highly suggest a speedwave DC pump. Its controllable, has a slow start up and shut down, very low amps, and you could easily add a manifold to include any reactors you might want to add. Then you dont have multiple smaller pumps running them.

Not necessarily, but having the control with the DC pump is just that much better. Just be sure you have ball valves on all your reactors and close them before you start the pump back up again because it will blow the media out. I am speaking from experience:squigglemouth:

Ok thanks I will check into the DC pumps. Lol yeah don't wanna blow media out. I already have the valve for each reactor. I have all reactors under tank on valves

I agree with Chris, I don't miss my ecoPlus pump one bit. I've got a Jebao 12000 DC pump and love it. Danner Mag Pumps are nice too.

I did have a manifold off of an ecoPlus and it worked just fine but, line Chris said use ball valves.

Yeah I wouldn't plumb anything without a ball valve. I have ball valves on everything. I will look into a DC pump. Sounds like best way to go

I am doing pretty much exactly what Chris said... DC pump return that I will ramp up as I bring more things online. To be honest, DC pumps on skimmers don't make sense to me. On returns, however, it makes a ton of sense! I'm also planning on grabbing some 3/4" gate valves to adjust flow in reactors since they're only $10 when you order them online and they give much, much more fine tuning ability with the flow rates over ball valves.

Look in the Private section there's a group buy going on that includes Jebao DC pumps the 12000 is like $110.

I'm not sure if there's still time to jump in though ask Brandon

There is still a day or two left. I'm going to try to submit it within the next 48 hours or so.

I love my Speedwave DC Pump. The ability to adjust the flow is awesome and it's so quiet that I have to look to make sure it's running.
