Well I finally got the courage to drill my 45 gallon cube for a Fiji Cube 1200 internal overflow box:

I also have a Fiji Cube 20 Advanced Sump:

Can you all check my plumbing layout before I order all of my parts. I'm hoping to do a Bean Animal style Overflow. Any recommendations would be appreciated:

Might trap air in the 90's

Another question I had was for the Fiji Cube Overflow box do I need the Durso style "U" fitting on the stand pipes for the Bean Animal or can I just use a strainer like I show above? Will it be a lot noisier without the "U"?

Leak test passed! Well it actually failed the first time because I had forgotten to glue one of the connections but after I fixed that No Leaks!

I’m super happy with how quiet the "bean animal" overflow and Syncra SDC pump combo is! So much better than the Durso's and external AC pump that I used to run with 10 years ago. I mean I'm shocked at how quiet this thing is!

So glad I went with the Fiji Cube 1200GPH Overflow with 3 drains.

Didn't quite end up with my plumbing as I had originally planned but came pretty close. When I planned it I forgot to take into account that my sump was located inside the stand and the Overflow was hanging off the back. So I had to order additional fittings to make things work.

Great work! Quick question. I see that your emergency pipe is somewhat low and therefore the water flow from the bulkhead seems low. There is not trickling or waterfall noise? I'm in the process of installing a 600gph (2 drain) fiji cube (also using a fiji cube sump) and tossed the included pipe because it seemed so low. I plan to have mine almost to the top of the bulkhead opening. But since I'm not planning on gluing it, I can play w/ the height to dial it in.

The emergency pipe that they provided was about an inch shorter than what I’m using, see post #8 and the gray pipe that they provided. I just replaced it with a longer emergency pipe.

Does this make noise at all? I'm asking because it seems like the waterfall effect could be a nuisance. I've seen others w/ the same overflow box have water a bit higher in the box. Thanks!

I can barely hear the trickle. I need to get up close to it to hear anything.

It would be easy to raise the water higher if I wanted. I could also make the emergency pipe longer if need be.

Ok, thanks! I'm almost done w/ my plumbing and will test soon. I'm just trying to get some ideas on how hard it is to tune the overflow. Good luck!

Well I spoke too soon. After running for a couple of hours a leak developed where I joined the bulkhead to the PVC. Nuts!

I’m going to have to replace the bulkhead and a portion of the union. Ugggg

I used pvc primer and glue. Applied to both sides, inserted and gave a twist. Held in place for 30 seconds
Ok. I've found so many different ways to do this. I chose to put primer on the pvc pipe only (since primer is for pvc, not abs) and solvent on both. However, I am using all purpose, which people on here have said works on both pvc and abs.

Are you not going to try some silicone first? Sorry about the leak!
