Looking for some feedback on my plumbing. The return is more detailed than the overflow. The overflow is a bean animal overflow with the primary to the ReefMat, the secondary in the first area and the emergency to the biomedia area to make some noise. The primary and the secondary will also have valves on them. Those are not in the picture.

I'll accept all feedback, just be easy on me. I'm a newbie trying to figure this all out.

So....
Remember all your elbows take away from head pressure. There are lots of those.
You didn't mention how big of a tank or how much flow you are looking for.
I always start with that first. Make sure I am comfortable with the pump it will take to run it.
Years ago I ran an iwaki on a large system and when I shut it down to do a water change man....that thing was loud.
Other than that consideration, the plan looks sound.
You can also run a reactor off of your main pump too. Again more head loss but doable.
I also always have a backup main pump-just wierd that way.
Right now I only use my main pump for just that.
My reactors have their own pump.
I'm no professional but I hope that helps.
Any more questions please ask.
Joel
P.S.-When you are just starting out try to keep things as simple as possible.

Yeah I tried just using the 90 degrees up top for the return. Other than that I used the 4 fourty fives. Not sure how to eliminate them but I'll tinker.

The tank is a 40 gallon breeder with a 40 gallon breeder sump. How much flow? That's a great question. I'm still figuring this all out. I'm using a COR-20 pump. I do have a backup pump but its actually sitting in a box brand new just in case.

I have seen reactors and all that but I just don't understand enough right now. That's why I held off there.

I appreciate the feedback!

No problem looking forward to seeing everything in action later on.
Like I said I can't take the noise anymore. Getting old I guess and my hearing sucks.
I'm using a jebao return pump with clear tubing no pvc no bends.
I clean it with vinegar every two months meanwhile using same pump as a spare alternately.
I've had no issues and zero noise.
Best of luck. Start a build thread when ready.
Regards.
Joel

I’ve alway used a manifold system and my UV is returned back into the to sump . I also favor the Herbie style return system over all others as it’s the quietest I’ve ever used . Good luck
