Is there any good step by step / recipe type url's out there for plumbing from an 'overflow' box to the sump and then sump return back to DT? I did a few searches and looking on youtube but didn't find any help.

I have a CPR cs102 that I need to buy plumbing parts for and then a Ehiem return. I was hoping to find a site for help on selecting the sizes and plumbing parts (*ball values, unions, ect.) .

Any help or push in the right direction would be great!

Flexible hose. Other than that, it's pretty straight forward. PVC coming out of overflow bulkhead strap the flex hose to it and run it into the sump and the same from return back to DT bulkhead.

The CPR I have was threaded for 1in PVC. I just bought 10ft of 1in PVC and a some 45s and 90s to make the drop to my sump. I'm using a EcoPlus 1267 pump with 3/4in PVC fittings.

On my overflow I have 2 x 1in pipes coming out. 1 has a ball valve, but since its behind the tank I can't really get to it. It also has threaded unions on each pipe, I can take them off as needed to clean, etc.

I built a return with a manifold section. I saw somewhere that for every 45, 90, a T you add you lose X amount of pressure. I'll see if I can dig it up. I have a ball valve directly over my return pump to control the flow. My CPR is rated at 1200gph so it has to be throttled down some. I used 45s everywhere I could, I also used unions everywhere I could so I could disassemble the entire thing in the event of an issue. I also have a ball valve right before my return into the tank. This is just a safety I added in the event my anti-syphon hole stopped working I can kill the flow there as well. The manifold T's into 3 outputs for reactors, water changes, whatever. Look in my build thread, I want to say there are some pics in there.

Awesome - thanks this will definately get me started. I think I was overcomplicating it.

My bulkheads are suppose to be 1" .... but the thread black bolt is definately 1.5 inches so that totally threw me off. Guess I am not really suppose to thread anything 'on to' it but instead pvc cement a 1" pipe 'instead'. Why the heck is it threaded it you put the pipe inside I'll never know *duh*.

Mike J posted this for a visual to help me 'see' it.

If you have any questions just ask. I know how daunting it is the first time. After this you'll find out there's nothing to it.

going to home depot after work , with my black bulhead - LOL.

I had a bag full of 1" unions and elbows and 1" flex pipe ... so I was pretty frustrated yesterday when NONE of it fit. ahhhh such is the life of a hobby reef keeper.

Bought most of the supplies at Home Depot , but still waiting on the '2x U- Tube with Directional Return 3/4 inch - 1 inch '. to be delivered and then will post some pics of the 'dry set up'.
