So I'm trying to figure out what the best way to plumb my new setup. I currently have a Reefer 170 and am working with 3/4" plumbing. My new sump accepts 1" and I would like 1". Would it be best to increase my return and overflow to 1"? Should I reduce down to 1/2" for my manifold? Or should I just keep the 3/4" all around? Any advice/pics are greatly appreciated.

The size really matters on the overflow. Because the overflow is fed by gravity there's a limit to how much flow can go through it, and the limit is lower than if the flow is under pressure (like on a return pump). Don't reduce the size of the overflow and you'll be okay.

Personally, if the tank is 3/4" on the overflow and the return, I would just plumb everything in 3/4" and increase the diameter when necessary to connect to your pump. 3/4" isn't a bad size to work with. It's not too small but not too big.

Thanks for the reply, my goal is to do the return and overflow 1 inch to a bulkhead the reduce to 3/4 inch. Think that would work?

For the manifold i would keep the3/4" pvc pipe and reduce down to1/2" ball or Gaye valves for the manifold.
