It sounds like you have 2 return lines in each tank and 2 drains.
I believe that’s what’s needed for the Herbie or even Durso style drains.
I would google a couple diagrams and see which style appealed to me most, then run the drains all to the sump with appropriate valves to which style you’d like to go.

What pump are you planning on using for the returns? You would get less friction loss if you start your pipe diameter large and reduce it to 3/4 closer to where it enters back in the tank.

Best of luck!

How big are those two holes in the sump above the pre-filter area? Big enough to fit those 1½" drain pipes (without a bulkhead)? If the holes will accommodate the 1½" pipe, you could run one of the drains from each tank to one of those holes and run the emergency drain into the more open space next to the pre-filter area. I would be concerned that the sump may not be large enough to handle the drain down of two 6' tanks and whatever water is in those 1½" drain pipes and return pipes in a power outage or pump failure. Awesome frag tanks, BTW. Planet makes some nice tanks.

Yes 1 1/2 inch fits in those holes

I do not think your one sump is going to have enough volume to hold water fr9m both tanks in a power failure situation as mentioned. It’s not only the water in the tank that may back siphon but all the water water in the Pvc pipes.

Only way to know if do a test run to be sure
