I’m planning on hard piping my tank. What’s the safest approach without harming the fish in the DT.

Test all your pipes before hand, measure twice cut once Then glue, wait a few hours and install. About all there is to it!

I would definitely leave the fish in there while you do the work. It really is the safest place for them.
