Plumbing in a fuge.

I'm in the thought process of adding a fuge to a system that's already plumbed together. Well, not really a fuge, just somewhere I can stash some macro algae and let it grow with an old light.
Should I plumb it to my PVC drain, or my flexible hose return?
The return would be a lot easier for me as I can cut the power, make a cut, T off a hose and tap, clamp it up and turn the power back on. But if the drain will work better (it would definitely look nicer) I'll figure something out with that.
