As I was checking for leaks the bulkhead was leaking from the npt male thread that hold my return hose. The issue is that for some reason it won't come loose for me to try and fix and it's completely into the bulkhead female. Is there a way to get it to loosen up with breaking my tank?

Is there any way to get two sets of channel locks on it? One set on the bulkhead exterior screws and another set on your male piece? That way your tank will be taken out of the equation.

A photo or better description would help. What size bulkhead, is the leak on the flange side or the nut side? Do you have a PVC threaded nipple or thread x barbed nipple screwed into the bulkhead? How is the hose attached to the bulkhead?
Strap wrenches work pretty good on the threaded part of the bulkhead without damaging the threads if it is accessible.

Agree, a set of channel locks is going to be your safest bet on this one. You didn't happen to glue them together be any chance?

Yeah it's fixed. But I cracked the bulkhead when I screwed the adapter back in. Too much thread tape I think.

That's always a sinking feeling when that happens, but it's fixed... thanks for letting us know!

haha this is what i was afraid of. But i remember reading that article that says never use teflon tape on plastic piping

Share the article with of us... lol:bigsmile:

Spears Mfg. the largest manufacturer of PVC in the world does not recommend teflon tape. I mention this in my Bulkhead Installation Tips sticky. They recommend something like LaCo PVC thread lubricant just as I do.

this the stuff to use instead of tape?

yes thats the one you use instead of tape. This is just basically the same thing except mine has a monster on it. I was more so, showing the monster. Looks kinda cool lol

But my bad if you were trying to check out at the store bro. Im basically in the same boat trying to plumb myself lol

I prefer the stick version, its a little thicker and not as messy and stays pliable forever. I have seent the sticks at Ace and True Value Hardware.
