Just got the pump and I’m trying to figure out which fittings I need to plumb it for return to the tank. I was planning to use flexible tubing (clear, reinforced) for a foot up to a union and then go 1-1/4 inch pvc to a manifold, a true union ball valve, and then return over the back of the tank. Any idea of the best part to connect to the pump? Will the stock fittings accept the flexible tubing, and if so, thoughts on the tubing size? I took the parts to Lowe’s to compare, but the tubing there is so rigid it is hard to tell the best diameter to use. Thank you.

you will probably need to use the correct size of PVC to come out of the pump then a barb fitting to connect to flexible hose. A better choice would be connecting directly to the pump with spaflex hose (flexible pvc).

Thank you for your help! Turns out it comes with four barbed hose fittings and five hard pvc fittings. My kids opened the box before I got home yesterday and they just informed me of the fittings. Lol.

I went with the barbs, and the nice thing is that one does not have to use clamps. I did put a union so that I can clean my pump without cutting the line every time. put in one of these above the water line link

If you are using barbs regardless of how tight it is now use clamps or at least zip ties. Flexible things typically get more loose not tighter.
