Plumbing question... Just cant figure this out!!!

So Im having an issue trying to figure out how to plumb this 75 gallon frag tank Im working on... the drains were pre drilled by the dude I got the tank from... It had a single 1” return, but I drilled it to be dual 1” returns... the drains were dual 1.5”.. decided to scrap that setup and do a low profile overflow box.. i found 1.25” bulkheads that cover the 1.5” return holes because Im pretty sure dual 1.5” drains is a little overkill for this size tank and would cause alot of bubbles going into my sump and I hate bubbles... I even thought of reducing the drains to 1” but im not sure and now that i see the low profile overflow box I dont think this is gonna work at all... The levels the drains are at look like I will not get a full siphon on the lower hole... you can see the right hole is about 1/2” lower than the left hole... Im usually pretty good at this stuff, but Im stuck... Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

The drains have to run 8-10’ horizontally with maybe 2-3” down slope to my sump

The key to that whole setup is the elbow and little bit of pvc the previous owner had on the secondary/emergency. That's what raises the level to keep the full siphon on the primary.

It won't work with a low profile overflow.

Yeah... that sucks... I dont have too mich room in my sump thats why I wanted to get an overflow box on there to stop all that water from draining in the sump... I habe about 20-30 gallons of sump space if power goes out and that drain is about 4-5” below water line... sucks

There are internal overflow boxes I've had that are about 2.5 in. That would give you the space for a street elbow inside the box with space to remove it for cleaning. There are also low profile strainers. I think lifegard makes them

Thanks man... 1.25” drains should be enough right? 1.5” seems pretty large... or should I go back to 1.5”
