I am plumbing my return lines from a basement filtration system. I have 1” outlets on my pump(s) and the nozzle into the tank is 3/4 “. I am pumping up about 8-10 feet to the nozzles into the tank. My question is when should I reduce down to 3/4”? At the pump outlet or closer to the tank nozzles? I am assuming reducing the size of the pipe all the way up will decrease the head pressure but wanted some recommendations.

Not an expert by any menas but I did watch a video on BRS TV where Robert Farnsworth said to go as long as you can with the larger pipe and reduce when you have to.

YMMV.
