I am currently in the process of setting up my first reef tank. I am using red schedule 40 PVC fittings and pipe with schedule 80 valves and unions. My question is when dry connecting to the valves and unions pushing the pipe by hand it doesn't get it to seat all the way, but if I manage to push it all the way in I can't get the pipe out to glue it later. So should I sand the pipe a little so it slides in easier?

No, don't sand the pipe, if you want it that exact, maybe try some vaseline. Or do like I've done, use channel locks to pull the 2 pieces apart.

Thanks! This is my first time doing anything with PVC and I just don't want to make a massive oops.
