looking at redoing my returns and have a question. Currently have a 1” return line that I Tee into two 1” lines to go to separate returns where it then reduces to 3/4”. Is that the best way to plumb or should I re-do and reduce to 3/4” when I tee the main 1” line? Or does it not really matter?

Is there any reason you want to reduce the size of the line between the tee and the returns?

From a flow, back pressure, perspective 3/4” is worse than 1”. Depending on your pump, head height and the flow rate you’re targeting it may be significant.

No reason why, just asking if one way is better than the other. I figured since I was back there re-plumbing, I would ask now rather than find out after that there was a better way.
