Plumbing question

I plan on using the grey flexible line (shown in the second picture) for the return line. You can see where the hole for the bulkhead is in the cabinet. The left side is for the return. It will probably have to bend a little to fit into the bulkhead and sump fitting.

This is such a straight, short distance it seems kinda silly to add a curve in the pipe.

Will the curve in the flexible hose cause any issues?
Is there a better way to plumb this return (pvc and a union connection maybe)?
