R2R,
Good Morning. Happy Friday. I have a plumbing question. My return pump is an Ecotech Vectra L2 (3100gph). The Output Fitting* - 1.25" which means I can plumb the return at that size,
However, I have the aqueon 210 gallons with the mega drain and I am going to use all 4 one inch holes as drains. Should I reduce my return to 1 inch so that my return can match my drains?
even though I will have 4 running Herbie style? Below is a picture of my tank

I would go larger on the return so you have minimal head loss. Especially if you will then a manifold one day. You can dial the pump rpm to match your drains. I believe a 1" line under full siphon handles a little over 1000 gph

Thanks. So I will run my return at 1.25 then I am doing a manifold too. I am glad you mention that. I did not want to throttle the pump with the reduction. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

If me, do 1 1/4, throttle back on discharge of return pump. In future you might add small tank by DT
