So I'm in the planning stage of replacing my old second hand RR 90 with a new unscratched RR 90. My question is regarding the bulkhead fittings. I want to hard plum this one. My old system is currently using flex hose. Both the drain and return are 1 1/4 inch socket style bulkheads. So getting to my question. The 11/4 pipe is actually one inch I.D. will that be adequate for for the drain? Thinking of finding a thread to socket adapter in the 1 1/2 or 2" size. I'm also going to replace my return pump with a DC variable. Looking for suggestions and input. Thanks in advance. Jim

Just two. thanks for responding! starting to think it was only visible to me?
Are they close together? Are they both inside a overflow box?
Could you make them into a herbie drain?

Pictures, inside and out?

I haven't completely unboxed the tank yet. but these are online pictures of what it looks like.

I inch is enough, convert to a Herbie style drain, Durso configuration is a slow flow, somewhat niosy set up.

Thank you both! I'll be doing some homework. My tank now has the durso style. Just trying to understand what options I have.

The durso is cheap and easy. Works fine. I would say that many, many go with this stock application.
The problem is it tends to get noisey.
The herbie is designed to be quiet.
Some don't mind the gurgling.
With all the equipment on system, it might not even be that noticeable.
But I like to make my tanks just as quiet as possible.
Good luck with the new build.
