Plumbing reactor off of manifold, avoiding inefficient loop

I am redoing my plumbing and some of the equipment in my sump. I have an EcoTech Vectra M1 Return pump feeding the manifold on my 80gal tank. Off of the manifold I will be running a Vertex 1.5l media reactor with carbon in it. I was wondering if anyone knows of any way to more efficiently plumb a manifold, to avoid that exiting water of the media reactor from being caught in a loop when it is returned in front of the return pump, in the sump, causing the filtered water to get stuck in a small loop, never fully exchanging through the entire loop of the tank/full system at full capacity. The only way I can think of avoiding this, is to run the reactor with its own dedicated pump that pulls from the first chamber of the sump and exits into the second chamber of the sump, allowing for the water to pass through the entire system before once again returning to run through the reactor. Any ideas?
 
I would just do as planned, as long as it has water in it its going to work for the most part
 
agreed man if your properly feeding your reactor with the low flow it needs the amount of water recirculating is very minimal and you will not see an performance decrease if anything a slight increase because the small amount of water being redirected is getting an additional pass through for organic removal compared to the rest of the system before returning to the display. Regardless your system works on a dilution principle and until all contaminants are removed through multiple passes through your carbon it will just dilute until the carbon reaches its saturation point. One pass through the small hobby sized reactors with normal flow rates will not be enough to remove all contaminants in one pass.
