I am trying to plan my tank and sump I am thinking using 1 1/2". what is the size that most ppl use?

What is your total water volume? On my Reefer 525 (approx 139 total water volume) I use 1" for the main manifold and reduce down to 1/2" for the reactors.

Depends on tank size, ovwrflow style, return pump size, etc... 1.5" plumbing handles a lot of water. I have it on my 200 gallon tank running 2 full siphon drains. I have the gate valves probably 90% closed.

ok here is where the problem starts . all I have is the sump (somatic 90) and a 75-gallon tank. I have a shadow overflow for it, I don't know what pump I need to get.

With that size sump/tank and overflow I would personally use 1 inch. It's just so much easier to "work with" at that size. I would set up the shadow with unions to where if you ever decided to go to bigger plumbing, you could. They come with 1.5" drains. I would put unions on all 3 at 1.5" and reduce from there. You could do 1.25", but 1" should handle enough flow, depending on what pump you decide.

You want to do internal pump? Adjustable?

yes Is what I was looking for and trying to figure out if I should put in a manifold and such.

I have a 75g and I'm using 1" line coming off my return pump and then downsizing to 3/4" for the return into the tank. Then using 1" drain lines to the sump. I'm also using a Varios6 return pump, which is actually very oversized for this system.

Yeah I would put in a manifold, or at least a t fitting with a ball valve to start a manifold. Probably 2 spots for reactors and maybe 1 more for return to the sump, which you probably won't need if you get adjustable pump.

Like @Idoc posted, those varios pumps are nice. Jebao are cheap, but work ok. Jebao are kinda big though depending on the model. Then there's the vectra pumps. I see mixed reviews, but they seem pretty nice. If money isn't a concern, abyzz and royal exclusive are top of the line.

Me personally, with that setup would most likely end up with a Varios or Vectra.

I getting what your saying I like that vectra I thinking the middle of the 3. and i will do 1 inch piping . now i have to figure what to use as returns?

the M1 Vectra should be fine for your size tank. You'll have more than enough flow as long as you don't go crazy with the manifold.

what do you think the most number of outlets will i need. still trying to figure that one out.

Really that depends on what you're planning on for extra equipment, how many reactors? ATS? UV? etc... I have 3 on my setup 2 for reactors and one extra. You can always start with a couple and add a threaded fitting with a cap or extend a piece of pvc off your last T fitting with a cap so you can cut and add another section down the road if your needs change without having to worry about redoing your manifold.

ok here is what i am thinking I am going to get the reactor that matches the system 90 then I am looking at an aquamaxx reactor. Maybe a biopellet reactor i'm sure of what reactors that i should start with. thanks for the info.
