I have seen build threads that reference manifolds being plumbed into the sump. I would assume that these allow for connecting reactors and such. It seems like a good idea to incorporate one into a new build for future use. Can anyone point me to a reference for how to incorporate a manifold into the plumbing?

Thanks

Good question! As a starting point, I encourage you to use the R2R search function and enter “sump manifold”. Here is a specific thread that you may find helpful: Designing a manifold. Good luck!

All a manifold is is a few T’s connected with valves on the ends. This can be ran off of your return pump or another pump. The idea is to run multiple things so for example say a reactor and an ATS.

@Reef-junky explained it pretty well. Some run them off their return pump, others use a dedicated and separate pump. I prefer gate valves as you can dial them in a little precisely than a ball valve.

If you go to the home page and search "manifolds" you should get several hits with threads discussing them.

Just for fun, here is a picture of my majifold.

Man, that's a good looking sump area! I also have a preference for gate valves- I'm a little OCD about precision. I think I am going to plumb mine off of the return pump. I have a 2000 GPH pump on a 110 Gallon, so should have plenty of pumping power for the extra plumbing.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful responses.
