Whats the best way to plumb a tank with only one drilled overflow hole?

Either drill another hole (assuming non tempered glass), or use that one hole for the drain and bring the return up over the top of the tank.

Can you split the drain to kind of act like a herbie to reduce noise. Or will something like the stockman work on a 120 gallon?

I've used a single 1" Stockman in my current system for 13 years now and been very happy with it. Experimented with a couple others but always came back to it.
