I bought a 1/4" piece of wood for the front panel on my stand. It has a bow in it. 2 questions. First, is can I somehow get the bow out of the wood to use for the front panel which will be attached to the stand by magnets and removed as access is needed? Second is, did I go too thin on the wood itself?

How many gallons is the tank?
Could you post a few pictures of the stand?
1/4" is pretty thin stuff and might not work very well.

Assuming it's just the plywood with no frame of any sort.......use thin strips of 5/8 to 3/4 inch boards on the back side to add rigidity. That will straighten out the bow and keep it flat. Hope the words make sense.

EDIT TO ADD:

Here's a mock-up I made with some scrap to give you a better ideal.

you are around 340+ lbs of salt water weight, would need to see the stand to make a meaningful recommendation.

LOL....I interpret the OP as the stand is already built, and he just wants to add a cover/door to the front. I didn't take it as an entire stand made out of 1/4 plywood...although that would be an interesting stand. Then again, I could be totally wrong.

The plywood is just "skin" for the front instead of doors. Ill take a pic once i get home from work

And redfishbluefish, I was thinking of trying something like that to see if it helps

Haha... no worries, reefsquad here to help... and you might also be 100% right!

Putting wood one the back to help straighten it out is a great idea and as for going too thin, because you are just using it as a "skin" the thinner the better. The plywood will help strengthen the stand some but thicker plywood would just add unnecessary weight. You could also try setting some really heavy things on it for awhile to flatten it out.

Yes it currently has "some" stuff sitting on it. And yes the wood panel I am referring to is not part of the structural portion of the stand

Let me show you what I used to skin a stand. PVC back splash. Comes in many styles and colors.

Here you can at least see the magnets to maybe get an idea of what I'm doing
