In the end for me, It was a higher pH, Very little feeding after the blackout, Very low light schedule, And I used a siphon to suck every little bit of it that I could find out every time I saw it over a period of two or three weeks. The siphon went from the top tank to the bottom through a couple of filter pads. It was really hard because it came back every 20 to 30 minutes. And there were times when I could not get to it while at work Or out. After the first week it started coming back slower and slower. Until after week three it just stopped coming back.

I fed my fish during the black out.

So you siphoned to your sock filters ? I can do that easy i can set up constant siphon and use it to clear dinos when i see them or can use filter floss in a bucket and poor back in to sump??

My wife hated me for that month. Lol I am not joking when I say I was siphoning every 30 minutes for 3 weeks.I had already had it for a month or two and had tried everything I could think of. But my reef is well worth it, now that it's over lol. Just like most everything in this hobby IME, it is good husbandry that will win. There are no shortcuts

Not the insump socks. I bought a separate sock filled it with different types of filter pads and ran water from the top tank through the sock and into the Sump

I don't know. I know that mine would disappear overnight. But they would come back 15 minutes after the lights came on. I get the feeling they would not have disappeared had I allowed them to grow but I was siphoning daily so it was a minimum when lights went out.

It was my favorite local LFS. I got the filter sock which I did not pay much attention to which type it was. Then I got filter pads of varying micron. I was not sure what would work so I used a little of everything

Just watch it so it does not clog and overflow the sock :)

Got a 7"x15" and have carbon and gfo with 2 pad filters and filter floss in there who knows if it will help but worth a try
