Kray thanks man .. I feel sick to everytime I look at it in a bad way ( Bubble algae and some spots of Byropsis) ...

sorry, i know you said you wern't ready to post up a new FTS, but i had to know how you were fitting so many awesome corals in a 40 - your reefing and photo skills are amazing!

i have a question - you run a pretty short photoperiod - do you run that short on your sps tank as well? i've been playing with bulb combos lately because many of my corals are a bit pale - but after reading this maybe its not the bulb combo, maybe its my photo period?

That FT shot was taken when I used to have tons of time.. but it went downhill when I got busy with kids and caring for my father in law. since then I grew some some byropsis and bubble algae and to the point that I broke my beautiful 90g SPS tank..I took out the LR and pretty much the 40g is packed with corals and most are frags.. I am still dealing with the problems I mentioned and I think I am winning. Sorry for the long rant , I just had too as SOME PEOPLE HERE think I have a perfect reef with beautiful corals but deep inside its not an easy task for me especially taking out bubble algae is daily routine..

Try doing it less.. The max I run my MH or T5 set up is 6 hours.. I put out a new combo on my t5 set up and pretty much tank looks white and this time only running it 3-4 hours.. So far it looks good

I just checked, I run 11 hours for all t5's and 5.5 for actinics, my colors could be better for sure. U got me thinking of cutting back, maybe just a few hours to start.

I don't see any change with coloration or growth .. I am only doing this cuz I am running it on the white side. Before when I was running it on the blue side I run my light 5-6 hours.....

I think the standard rainbows always starts at 500.00 lol j/kidding.... This is one chalice that I want to see a nice colony ....

Mark if you look at he picture you can see it was cut so I have one that I will propagate and the picture I posted will not be touch ... If the grow out gets a little bigger , I will cut you a piece and maybe ship it out along with the SPS I forgot to include yesterday :cry:

Yep, I finally added some VHO's to the shallow system and even though its only been a couple of weeks, its starting to develop some very cool coloration :xd:
