Po4 at 0 url. No3 at 8ppm

is this normal ? I got 13.5 fluval nano aio tank. 3 fish 3 snail. 2 months old set up. Using nopox to control nutrients. Cal.alk.mag in good range. I have 1 maxima and 1 crosea clams that are doing just fine. I know they absorb nitrate and phosphate, will they get affected with my 0 phosphate ?

Have you replicated test results back to back? I find that if I get a less than normal result verifying can give you a better idea of what is going on. No3 reading is maybe a bit high ( mine is too) but I think a getting your PO4 up to ~.02 level will prove beneficial for you. Are you having anything “bad” going on??

Yes did a Red Sea phosphate test both low and high range, all read 0. Been feeding heavy and added another fish couple days ago just hoping to raise my phosphate, I might test again tomorrow. I even lower my nopox dosage in half. Clams looks good, I’m having a diatom bloom thou

Stop the carbon dosing as well as GFO and any other nutrient reducers you're using.

The tank looks WAY to new for any of that.

Only dose nopox, with carbon on a reactor. Then skimmer. I can’t cut nopox just like that, I need to slowly reduce the dosage. From 2ml to .75ml now

You can quite immediately – it's literally a danger to keep doing it.

What you risk is encouraging a toxic algae bloom. NO THANKS.

Nothing bad will happen if you quit NOPOX. Something bad may happen if you continue.

For that matter I would take a closer look at the algae growing to assure that you aren't already in that situation.

• Confirming the ID of your dinoflagellate is important if possible.
  • To begin with, make sure you have Dinos – no special equipment needed
  • Use @taricha's dino confirmation guide on posts #986-987.

• Once you have confirmed that you have dino's you should ideally figure out what type(s) your tank is hosting.
  • A basic 1200x microscope will be useful and doesn't have to be more than $15 toy scope.
