I started dosing AlgaeBarn phytoplankon a few days back, because I am trying to max out my pod population in anticipation of adding a mandarin, doing even about half of the acclimation dose recommended on the bottle. However it appears that my green pocillipora hates it! I found it all closed up this morning, for the first time since it's been in my tank, and then it progressively came back through the day, but when I dosed phyto this evening it almost instantaneously closed up again. Nothing else in the tank seems to be affected. Is this normal??

Its likely hitting all the little heads on the coral. I add mine to the current of the tank

thanks! I had started putting two and two together that the coral is positioned just right to be bombarded when I drop supplements in front of the power head, good to know that was your thought too as that makes me more confident that was the issue

It's odd - not phytoplankton today but ProBio, and the same reaction. I put the stuff in at the opposite side of the tank this time. I wonder if I need to dilute it in a bunch of aquarium water and pour the water in...

Add to sump and the return pump will slowly distribute it to tank

Good idea - I have an AIO so maybe I will start with dripping it slowly into the pump chamber of the sump and see if that helps.
