Have a 18 month with water - 180 Mixed tank doing well with all three categories now that I have quit making mistakes (Alk run to 15dKH back when it was in the ATO and using marine pure bio balls and a ran Al up to 600 as they disintegrated) - but all stable now. One of the SPS that lasted through those early mistakes wa a lone frag/cluster Green Pocillipora

Polyp bail-out or whatever, but I have 2, 4-5 inch spreads on the back glass, 5 - 6 cauliflower sized clusters around the rock work, and 10-15 pea-sized buttons

One has taken out one nice Monti and strongly irritating a few other

To protect a nice millie growing colony I chipped of the majority of the frag and covered it with putty - and that it is now growing out from around the edges.

Anyone have a better solution to keep these weeds under control?

Merci mucho

No easy solutions here, it's why many avoid poci. I'd say keep covering them in putty as you see them. Complete eradiation might prove extremely difficult in a larger tank depending on your rockwork.

Wait...pocillopora the SPS? From the description it sounds like you're referring to green star polyp.

I love poci! I can’t wait for mine to start going rogue, I have about 15 califlour size colonies, hoping they have enough light to not bleach on the inside stalks

Rule number one in the hobby. Share extra frags with other hobbyists.

EXCEPT for GSP, xenia, and the nasty palys.

I had a green Pocillipora bailout when the tank was young. It started popping up everywhere. I was able to remove most of it manually, and some of it just withered away because it didn't get enough light where it was. The original colony is gone now, and all that's left is a pretty large colony on one of my overflows that I love. Once I got my parameters stable, I haven't a bailout since. Of course, you have to keep an eye on it, but I don't see it as the "take over coral" that it might seem to be. I'm definitely going to keep mine.

I wasn’t joking! I will share pics later, I think they are wondefful

It’s so hard to kill, wire brush and glue just keep goin at it until you win
