After 5/6 wks of copper and prazi treatment followed by 2/3 wks of no meds during which health6 alga3 has acculat3d on glass and PVc tubes, I went to remove trigger to put in DT and saw these critters on him and in water column. Are these just regular pods anD thus nothing to worry about or something else needing treatment… 6602CA13-6A31-4E77-8249-0348556E0F6E.jpeg B0700257-CD46-409F-82D1-2B5767C60934.jpeg

Qt tank w/o meds for 2 + wks after copper and prazi. When remov8ng trigger saw these critters on him and in water column. can you get better/closer photo?

these survived two weeks in copper? Was copper level maintained consistently throughout (daily copper testing and adjusting)?

No the Qt was up with copper for 6wks. I’ve taken copper out so for last 2-3 wks no copper or prazi in qt. Healthy green algae and these critters as well as some fish which I was going to intr to DT until I saw these. Sorry for confusion. I rewrote intro above to mak3 it clearer.

Photo is at full magnification on iPhone10 plus through a magnifying glass so I don’t have anything else to Make photos better. I just posted a video taken with same magnification. Thx.

they are so SO small, can't tell what they are, sorry. They move like tiny shrimp... but I can't tell what they are because they are so small. [edit: my gut says re-copper treat fish and QT... you can always buy SAFE pods like Reef Nutrition Tigger Pods, but back in the 80s there was a real problem with pods that sucked fish... people don't talk about it these days, but I stick with culturing from safe/clean pod source and avoid wild pods]

Inverts should die with copper treatment... maybe this recent guest speaker presentation will help better explain copper & QT protocols, though not with ID help... [edit: Q&A at end also discusses copper even deeper than presentation]

Thx. No copper in water for last 2/3 wks. Pics already magnified to max on iPhone 10 and taken thru a magnifying glass. See video just posted. Thx

Video in post #3 is still the same video of yours I already watched where I can't tell because they are so small. I can't even tell if they are copepods, and they move like shrimp.

Perhaps try posting over in Forum Critter ID. I culture AlgaeBarn EcoPods and Reef Nutrition TIgger Pods, so I'm most familiar with those four types of pods. I prefer Tigger Pods because they are easier to see. EcoPods (blend) are very hard to see.

Some require microscope magnification for correct identification, but maybe you'll get lucky with a new thread and that (too small for me) video over here:

Appears to be amphipods and I have heard cases of them tolerating low levels of copper
.5 would be low as 2.5 is therapeutic level

Is everything on the surface the same creature? I watched the video and saw a bunch of things moving and a bunch of stuff not moving. I wasn't sure if the stuff not moving is detritus or whether it's all the creature? Is it possible to scoops some out and put on some white paper? You can probably look get in closer that way. Did these build up slowly or was it more of a "nothing there one day and suddenly there the next" situation? You also said these were on the trigger. We're they stuck to him or just crawling on him? Did you (or can you get a pic/video of that? I agree with @Fish Think Pink you should probably repost in the hitchhiker section with more pics. A microscope might be needed. That seems to be a lot of pods to have manifested in a qt tank.

I can’t ID these; could be amphipods, copepods or maybe even isopods. Copper doesn’t always kill crustaceans, especially copper power or coppersafe.
The typical thought is - if it isn’t living on a fish, it isn’t an obligate parasite. My concern is that there are so many of them, there must be a lot of uneaten food for them to eat, and they also will take oxygen out of the water - can you siphon them out?

After magnifying as much as possible using a pretty good zoom and magnifying glass, the conclusion is that they are Just plain old tigger pods. Thx
