Ok.. so i have an order of pods that just came in. I have been QT like crazy over the past two years .. resetting up my system of fish and sps... I want to add this jar of pods.. Do I need to worry.. part of my worry says.. put in fish-less rock tank .. 20 gallon tank and let them grown and sit for 85 days.. then move rock into the DT..

Then I am told they dont grow out pods in a fish tank system.. totally safe no fish or the fish would eat the pods.

so to the regulars and others.. your thoughts. to drop straight in or not..

Thanks

It would scare me to drop them in. I'm extremely cautious though and paranoid about cross contamination or introducing a parasite.

Where did you get them?

QT EVERYTHING wet.

That’s my mantra. I qt chaeto, other macro, pods, inverts.

I even QT live rock, IF I buy it. I usually use completely dry rock.

But anything wet gets QT

Someone please describe an effective procedure for qt'ing pods. :)

Put em in a tank with a heater and an air stone on low/medium for 76 days and feed with phyto...
And then collect them by pouring all the water through a fine mesh sieve? That could work. :)

I just turn the lights on the QT bright for a couple hours then put the rock in the sump. They hide in the rock due to the light, then transfer the rock, then the return pump will shoot them into the DT. The vast majority will survive the trip

Oknputting them
In Qt. 20 gallon with some snails

my next post will ask about .. ARC coralline Algea spores in a bottle..
