Which pods most beneficial to have in your refugium? Reef Nutrition sells Arcti pods, Tigger pods, and Apex pods. There is also cope pods.

Second question, what's the pros and cons of mixing them up?

Third question, is it possible to overdose them in refugium that creates negative effect?

Thanks for tagging us.

I recommend our Apex-Pods for your refugium as they have a very good chance at populating. Tigger-Pods are mostly a live feed organism that gets eaten faster than it can reproduce, but still good to feed to finicky fish. Arcti-Pods are copepods that are not alive, so you can remove this from your options.

As long as you have ample habitat and food for them, multiple species of copepods can co-exist. There will be competition, but it is mitigated by habitat and food.

With the current quantities offered by us, it is impossible to overdose them.

Thanks for your questions. Hope this is helpful.

Best,
Chad

Thanks Chad @Reef Nutrition! What do I feed Apex pods? Is it enough just from the tank nutrition?

It's beneficial to feed phytoplankton to them. Your corals and other filter-feeding inverts will benefit from this, as well. We grow them with phytoplankton here at our farm. With that being said, they will eat diatoms, uneaten food and organic waste that's already existing in the tank.

With an ample supply of live phyto (nann) supplemented with Phyto Feast, can the Apex be cultivated along with Tiggers or must the two be in separate conatiners.

good thread on these

They have different reproductive rates and Tigger-Pods are much larger. In a culture setting, it's best to keep them separate so that they aren't competing against each other; however, I suppose it could be done if you had a lot of habitat like dense macro algae and lots of rock. We don't use any habitat in our copepod cultures, so we never mix species.

@Reef Nutrition Thank you, It will be easy to add another set up for the Apex Pods. Like the idea of culturing and dosing both. I'll update the thread accordingly

can your Apex pods be cultured to greater amount in home setting using your pythoplankton feast bottle? Does it have to be your pyhtoplankton product or can I use my own pythoplankton culture to feed apex pods?

Yes. You can grow it in a separate culture container and use our phytoplankton and/or what you are growing at home.
