Should I add copepods and amphipods to my tank that is originally dry rock with no bare bottom?

I guess to liven up my tank a little more and for more filtering/ water cleansing.

If you are buying them to seed your tank that is great. They are always good to have in your tank. But remember, a fish like a dragonet can wipe out your entire population in a very short period of time. Many people have a refugium to grow them so they are not all eaten. Good luck and happy reefing.

Yep, good statements above. I seeded my tank with the refugium package from inland aquatics and typically start all my tanks like this. You will need a refugium so they have a safe space to mate and keep feeding your tank. In my experience, this need not be a very big one. Overtime, you will find the gammarus like amphipods will dominate. I don't know if they actively eat the smaller pods or just out complete them, or some combination of them both. I have seen this is several tanks over a decade no matter what I do.

As far as benefit, they are all great detritus scavengers...and you fish find them tasty as well, but they also waste in the water, so its not a net gain or loss in the way of nutrients. Corals will eat them but only if they find their way to the polyp. I do recommend them, but only on the premise for more utility and entertainment. They certainly will not be a magic bullet for any tank.
