I need to rejuvenate my pods. I have often wondered if the packaged stuff you see in the lfs is worth the money. It sits there on the counter for who knows how long and who can count the pods. I need to find a good reliable source and I heard the Algaebarn is not the great source they once were.

I have always had a good experience with these guys as have the people I help out with their reefs.

I ordered a jar of 5280 Pods from AlgaeBarn. When it arrived, I could see some of the larger pods moving inside the jar. However, I was amazed when I looked at a single eyedrop of the water under my microscope. There were dozens and dozens of tiny pods swimming around! These were way too small to see with the naked eye. I feel I definitely got my money’s worth.

My pipefish are constantly plucking pods off my rocks, sand, and glass. I’m planning to buy again from AlgaeBarn.

Another question. How many of you feed phyto to your tank or refugium to feed the pods? The best way to probably to raise pods in a separate environment but I don't want to mess with that or even culturing phyto for that matter.

I only used the phyto initially after the pods were added to the refugium. Never used it again and my mandarin is fat and happy for 2+ years now. I see pods all over the glass.

@jtl not sure who told you that we aren't a great source. We are under new management, completed a facility move to a much larger facility, and are wrapping up our 100x scale of copepods and phytoplankton.

Try us out, if you aren't happy, feel free to post here, DM, email, or call and I will refund all of your money( including your shipping) and send you another package for free!
