I have a frag of pokerstars that grows like crazy. Its in the middle of the tank under 250w halides and 4 t5's. The green polyps are perfect but the base lost all of its blue. My parameters are salt 1.026, calc 425, alk 10.3 and the bad stuff is at 0.

Any ideas?

i've run into the same problem with mine. as of yet, i cant figure out why the base has turned more purple than blue. i think placement might have a role in it, but i think that there's more to it than that. all my parameters are perfect. i'm actually sending off a water sample to have a lab double check my parameters to make sure i'm not missing something.

im on the same boat with my superman monti...its growing like crazy but the blue base is gone. I would move the monti but how am i suppose to do that with it encrusted onto the rock

my pokerstar now has a greenish base :( but a tiny bit of blue on the outer rim...

My Pokerstar gets a dark purple if my Phosphates get too high. That may not be your issue, but I use it as a reference for when I need Rowaphose.

+1 PO4 will pull the blues right out of my tank.

Well, I have 3 rainbow montis in my tank and a superman too, I know they aren't pokerstar but they still have blue bases. I have one rainbow monti in mid light, no flow, and its brown completely. Another is high light, little flow, has some colors on polyps but no blue. My last rainbow (and superman too) is getting blasted with flow and light and have beautiful polyp colors and base too.

i just sent a water sample to aquariumwatertesting.com, so we'll see if anything comes back high or low that may be affecting my montis. i'll keep you posted.

I also have rainbows and superman, the coloration of them perfect. Nice blue base, only my pokerstars has browned out (still green polyps). I have no idea, I broke it off the rock and put a piece in my frag tank to see if that helps.

My pokerstar lost its base color after I fragged it a few times. But took a few weeks for it too regain color once it healed. Maybe a possibility if you fragged it recently?

just got my water sample back. iodine and potassium are a little low. phosphate is 0.05, nitrate 0, nitrite 0, ammonia 0...all other parameters normal. any thoughts?

I took the piece out of my display and put it into my frag tank. My DT has 14k 250w phoenix and the frag tank has a 10k 150w current bulb. It seems the piece in my frag tank is starting to get some blue in it. The DT water drains into the frag tank so the only difference would be the bulb and flow.

potassium deficiency would be my guess..

yeah...my thoughts too. i have been dosing potassium and iodine, but was a little conservative b/c i didnt want to over do it. now i know i can dose a little heavier. i post whether or not i notice any difference upon correcting my K+ and iodine levels.

I had the same issue, my superman and sunset were perfect but I couldnt keep the pokerstar blue. You gotta find its sweet spot in your tank.
