Hi All, forgive me I'm new to all this! I've bought a polkadot boxfish with the shop owner advising that it gives off poison only if it dies. After reading up on them, I've read that they also release it if they become stressed. She's got stuck in my pump once so now I'm quite worried! Anyone got any experience of them? Im considering taking it back, I've had a tank for 2 years but I wouldn't consider myself experienced. I only have friendly fish, clowns, bicolour angel, regal tang & scooter blenny.

What size tank do you have? The Cubicus box fish is usually ok in a community tank with peaceful fish but yes they can emit a toxin if they are severely stressed or if they die. You might try putting a foam tube or pad over the pump inlet that it got sucked into last time to prevent it happening again.
