I have 2. Max S 500 and a G1 Reefer 250. The Max is eurobraced, but while the left, right and lower seals don't appear to currently have issues (but who knows) the upper seal with the euro brace does have some areas of concern. I got this tank second and and when I filled the tank I was able to see that it was about 1-1.5 inches out of level back to front. Thus, that added pressure most have impacted the euro brace. Wish me luck...

Just a heads up, might want to adjust your poll as there isn’t a checkbox for yes I encountered a leak. It says if yes have you had a leak, no way to select yes or no

Edit. Also, I’m not wanting to jinx myself here as I have a 750, with a small defect in the seam (which they have assured me is purely cosmetic) that started before they sent out the retrofit kit which is now out of the warranty period. I

I own two, my main system was purchased used and has has been running for about 5 years . Purchased a smaller one for my office room to sell some frags and it been running fine.

Older ones do run a risk of opening on the seams but a lot of times it’s due from scraping the glass clean and wearing it down . Mine has been doing fine also the new ones now have a protective corner seams to avoid this .

So only Red Sea owners scrape the silicone hard enough to cause a failure? What about the silicone in the dead center of the front pane of glass under sand? This is being scraped that hard as well?

Mr Saltwater spent over an hour with a brand new razor blade trying to cut through the silicone of a tank. Never could.

The old “scraper ruining silicone” myth has zero evidence or merit. Red Sea tanks fail from poor design.

Sounds like you kinda shot the gun and assumed I said only, I wouldn’t say only, Definitely not only.

Sure I would assume that not all are built the same. Same as a car or home or tee shirt. But over all my experience has been great with them.

That’s why I purchased a second one also they eliminated a huge issue that was wrong with them in my opinion. But it’s not for everyone, you can purchase a Petco tank and have no issues I’ve also owned one but you don’t get the quality. I also plan on keeping it for a long time.

I don't really like how spendy they get for a tank that isn't medium sized (anything less than 6')

the white ones are also ugly as they get.

i like the concept of the all in one, turn key key setup but i'd rather just get a AGA 180 with overflows, seems like better value for your money.

Why don’t we see constant failures from other brands of tanks if it is algae scrapers that are the issue? That’s what I’m saying.

You said the older tanks usually have issues from hitting the silicone with a scraper. If this were actually the issue, we’d see many other brands suffer the same catastrophic failures. Yet, we don’t. I wonder why?

I’ve used Aqueon and AGA tanks many times in the past. They fit their need very well IMO. My current tank is a fully custom Glasscages tank. Yes, there is a major quality difference in build and glass clarity IMO. However, neither the Petco tank or the Glasscages will fail from algae scrapers hitting the silicone. Red Sea don’t fail from this either because it’s a myth.

Bought the 200XL G2 on launch day. Comes with 3 year warranty plus I paid extra for 2 more. No prob with seams or the stand. I check my seams monthly since learning about the failures. I’m not leaving the hobby anytime soon. It’s the only thing I do in my life to keep me sane. Only time will tell if my tank holds up. Tank purchased in May 2022.
