Question: Do you use a grounding probe? Yes/No

If you feel like giving more detail that is always appreciated!

Do you use one in DT and sump?
Where did you place it?
What brand?

NO! I'd rather have the tingle in my hands than current flowing through my tank. Without the tingle I'd never know if I had a piece of equipment that was leaking juice.

Yes, I know they should be in conjunction with GFI....but I also don't want to be on vacation when that trips because it's a full moon.

While a probe isn't required it wouldn't hurt. You can place it any where it contacts water. If you wear shoes you won't feel the current while feeding etc. Do Have a GFI thou.

Electricity in the tank is electricity in the tank, regardless of where it goes.

I have one and without gcfi either. I found that not having one, was the cause of all my fish deaths. I couldn't keep fish for more than a week! Now I have had the same clowns for months

Do you place it in the overflow? I know nothing about them. Wanted to hear the communities thoughts

There have been numerous threads on this topic. I think I have read every one and I'm still not sure the best route to go. The last thread had a few electrical engineers on it and there conclusion was a combo of a grounding probe and a GFCI. The big down side to GFI is they trip very easily and it can cost you a tank for no reason. But, I guess its better then a good shock running through your body.

I want to clarify the reason for the question, it's dumb but, this is not for MY health.. It's for the health of my fish it was started when I diagnosed my tang with HLL or HLLE which can be attributed to an electrical current in the water column.

Better then running a ground probe is finding the problem and eliminating it.

Saying that, I have a ground probe waiting to be added to my build. It still doesn't releave the need to find the offending piece of equipment.

Oh my gd i looked at this today nd decieded to test and i have 21.057 give or take vs going threw my tank rite now could this cause some sps to pale or m i going crazy

Nd how can i tell if theres current going threw my tank, i got electricuded about 20 times so i would kno but could there be such low levels that i cant detect? Hoe would i test for it

I've thought about one for a while. i thought it would eliminate electrical issues. But what I'm gleaning from this is its actually worse by creating a circuit. Is this right?
