I've just bought a trio of purple Decorums for my 280 litre system.

What size tank is needed to successfully keep a group of firefish?
Depends on what you consider a group. I've seen 2x2x2 cubes (60 gallons) with groups of 5+, and 12 gallons with pairs. It seems groups in large tanks tend to be safer choices than pairs in small tanks.
Also - adding them all at once should help curb any aggression between them.

I love firefish, I had one in my biocube, and the clowns starved it to death, and eventually fed the anemone.

for my 120, I would absolutely love to add a group of firefish. I have a group of barrier reef chromis on the way.

Please post pics and tag me or PM me. I really want to see that and hear of your experience. I might be considering a group in a 180.

I researched this for a while and wanted to go with Anthias, but I travel often for work and didn't want to worry about multiple feeding per day. Most people who go with Chromis seems to report them picking each other off until you have 1-3 left, so I passed on them. I ended up with nine Zebra Barred Dartfish and they seem to be doing great and add a ton of movement to the tank. It's interesting to watch the males display and posture. While it's only been a couple of months, I've seen little aggression and the posturing doesn't seem to not escalate into any physical aggression. The only fish that appears to be unhappy about the 'Zombie Squad' is my Pink Spotted Goby because all nine of them go barreling into her burrow just about everytime they get spooked. ;)

i got 5 barrier reef chromis in QT right now. they seem to be hanging out in a group, not sure if it's because it's QT, but even when there's food, they eat together.

Never owned them, but always wanted a shoal of mono argentus or a group of barber fish.
