Poll: Frags versus Mother Colonies

Which would you rather buy?

A Frags of a coral
Or a full grown Mother colony

I love frags, watching them grow is one of the best parts to me.

It's 50 50 for me i like mother colony's because you can frag and share with friends but frags you get to grow some times ill buy a mother colony of something and frag it and put it Different places in my tank

Frags, Only because Its the cheapest way to get that Coral. If I was loaded.. No Question Colonies!! But I also enjoy watching the Frag grow into Colonies.. So I guess Frags are more enjoyable.

Frags mostly because when they grow in to your tank it looks so natural and awesome. You just can't get that with mother colonies.

not true some frags are $100-1,000$+ so i wouldn't say that for an excuse lol!

Reef Raft? Of all the vendors with expensive frags? haha! Unless someone's tearing down their tank or someone doesn't know the value of what theyre selling the frags are gonna be cheaper than the colonies. However, colonies are often a better deal because people recognize no one's gonna pay a high per eye/head/polyp price for 100 eyes/heads/polyps lol

Also I've seen that if you have a small frag ie 1inch beach of birds nest won't survive as easily as a 4inch by 5inch colany

just think of it this way. if you wanted to buy a mother colony of JF bloodshot palys. there like 70-100$ a polyp so buying a mother colony would only lower it 20 $ a polyp. i mean no one would do that i dont think but yea. just a Example.

+1 i love watching all my stuff grow i look at the tank every day just to see slight detail in growth. its awesome.! but to addicting! my girlfriend hates me now cause that is all i talk about and compare things like rose bushes to zoanthids and stuff like that. im gonna post a picture of a red planet mother colony out in the garden. lol you guys will laugh i can frag it for you! very cheap! lol!

Most of us have lost a piece here and there. The hurt isn't as bad when you buy a frag. Now after you grow it out from a frag into a colony then it dies. That hurts more.
