Poll: Lighting Hours at Max Intensity

How long do you run your lights at maximum intensity during the day? I know this can vary greatly dependent upon species kept in the tank, but just looking for an average. Many people also ramp up and down on either end, but just looking for time the lights are at their max.

I picked 9-10 but really it's 10.5 hours. No real reason for this number other than it seems long enough, but not excessively long.

For the record this is a mixed reef with moderate lighting : 3 Kessils, a350 and 2 a360s + reef breeders black box to help with shadowing over 5 foot 112 gallon tank.

Hard one for me. 8 currently in my ramping model.
The new lights is the second tank don't ramp (yet) , so those are on low and long (10hr W/12b)

Currently all my corals are in my 14g nano reef/frag tank. Light is a single A160 at 30% max intensity, 30% color. Mainly SPS on racks up pretty high. Not sure on PAR, Seneye coming this week so I can get everything adjusted right. I have 2 A160s on my 35 cube that run a similar schedule with more intensity.

Just a few min a day for me. I ramp up and down threw out the day onky staying at the highest intenisty for a few min at a time.

I have my light (Kessil AP700) come on at 10AM, and ramp up to max intensity at 1PM and holds there until 5PM and ramps down to night at 8PM

My lights never hit maximum intensity, but they are at their highest setting it's on for 12 hours. [doesn't ramp/dim]

I don't have ramping lights but T5 come on at 8am then halides at 2 to 8pm then T5 off at 9pm. So about 6 hours at full intensity.

My max (when t5 and leds at highest setting) is about 5 hours. The leds at max (about 55%) for about an hour before and after. There's a 2 hour ramp up and a 1 hour ramp down. About 10 hours for my total photoperiod

blues 4 hrs then T5 cut on for 6 and blues again for another 2. blues are just for looks not for photoperiod.

I'm not yet reach the max intensity with my light system but the schedule is ramp up to peak in 2 hours then stay at that set intensity for 10 hours then ram down until schedule off time, depend on each system stocking color will be vary to everyone. For me, I mainly focus on my clams and I see my clams color look dull with blue color so I'm work my way up to 100% color/100% intensity, down the road I would looking to stock coral that required high light setting for my tank.

I use dinosaur LEDs (reefbrite XHO) so they’re just on a timer. 9-9!

Trying to find a way to ball on a budget and upgrade my lighting on my 180!

My Reefer Nano and Reefer 170 both use AI prime HD so it’s time for me to step it up!

My lights (Kessil A360WEs) are at max intensity (50%) for about three minutes; they ramp from 0% (technically 11% which is where they turn on with the Reef Angel controller) to a max of 50% over the course of six hours and then dim back to 0% (11%) before shutting off. Color ramps from 0% to 60% over the course of two hours and remains at 60% for eight hours before ramping back down to 0%. The T5s are on for eight hours (between the color ramps of the Kessils).

my 4 blue bulbs (3B+, 1 Geisemann Sup. Actinic) are on from 8am to 8pm, my two whiter bulbs (C+) are on from 11-6)

so you mean even if the maximum intensity for a given tank is at 40% for 4 hours you want the person to choose 4 hours

You've got it. I realize not everyone runs their lights a 100%. But if 40% is your max, and you run them at 40% for 4 hours, then 4 would be your selection.

On for 10 hours, max intensity which is 70% for two hours.
