I have never used NSW. But I do bring some wild collected critters home in NSW. Seeing it, I wouldn't use it.
If you collect it far enough off shore to get away from local near shore pollution, it's probably OK. But it's way more work and IMHO will provide little if any advantage.

2 years ago I moved to a house 90 yards from the Atlantic Ocean. I back my Jeep up to the surf and throw a bilge pump into the water with a hose attached and pump it into my car.
I usually collect 40 gallons.
At home I filter it usually through a diatom filter because I am collecting right at the surf and the water is filled with chopped up seaweed, sand, debris and all sorts of things.
If I collect it from my boat, I just strain out larger particles of seaweed, shrimp etc.
Then I heat it up and throw it in my tank.
The tank was started with NSW in 1971 but I collected in a really bad place near Manhattan so I used mostly ASW for many years with no problems.
I do have to add calcium and alk as it is very low but my corals are growing much faster than they ever did and all my paired fish are spawning. I would never go back.
