Poll on aquarium experience before SW (if any)

I'd like to get a feel for how many of us have had some FW experience before SW (for future articles).

I've had freshwater tanks almost my entire life. Started around 6 years old. I dont currently keep any freshwater but my tank right before i dived into salt was a 36 gallon bowfront dwarf gourami tank with some tetras and flagfish

Since 1983. I had 6-8 tanks in the second bedroom of our apartment.

Mom and I had a 10 gallon with guppies and swords and mollies in 1968 or so.

A bubbling pirate ship? I love it! I'm sure I'll be the only one putting some weird stuff in a SW tank.

1 freshwater tank at 12 years old that I wont count as it was 30 years ago. Otherwise strait to reef.

What about a freshly cycled FW tank and now in the process of setting up a SW tank?

I have been breeding Killi Fishies since I was about 10 years old and never stopped except my time in the military! Now in addition to the Killi Fishes I breed F1/F2 Gouramis.. Total 3 FW and 2 SW DT's tanks between the wife and I and +/- 6 breeder tanks (down for the winter)..

Like this one? This one does,nt have a slate bottom though. I used to have stainless framed 10 thru 55 gal. back in the day.

I had a 40 gal oscar tank hand me down from an uncle. After a few years fell out of the hobbie till my job got a red eared slider as a work mascot then took care of it and guppies. Next job had a turtle pond. Now I'm finally into it at home with saltwater and feel like a newbie again.

I had my first goldfish tank, (more like a bowl) over 35 years ago and had my first heartbreak when my parents accidentally dumped him into the toilet while cleaning the tank and he swam for the sewer to live with the giant alligators down there. That was a free goldfish, (I think I won somewhere) that I had had for several years before the traumatic toilet bowl indecent.

I eventually got up to a 125 gallon tank with very aggressive African Cichlids that I had until I cracked the tank moving it back in the 90's. I always stayed as close to the natural habitat of the fish as I could so no pirate ships or divers for me. I currently have three freshwater tanks that are heavily planted with several different Tetras, Gouramis and a couple Florida Flag fish and I have my very first saltwater tank, (45 gallon quarantine tank) that I just got setup this week so it is cycling with no fish yet.

Those were that tanks assembled with some strange black tar substance before modern 100% silicone was invented. It may have been the same stuff that used to be stuck in the seams of wooden ships to keep them water resistant?

I remember the bubbling pirates treasure chest, and the bubbling skeleton, and those cool bubbling filter floss and charcoal filled corner filters. Those were the first fruits in the age of plastics.

When the tanks with slate bottoms failed you cut the slate up and put pieces in the new tank for the fish to spawn on.
