poll question about sand

i was wondering what you would do and why .. i have a 180 gallon im think about redoing the bottom .. cant do bare bottom due to wrasses ,

so i want to know what your pros can cons are on different kinds of live sand ..

black sand
fiji pink or argonite

which one would you go with and why

I have Fiji pink and aragonite in my 120, the Fiji pink is a better grain size (I regret using the agragonite). I also just put black sand in a JBJ 28, I like it in the small tank but I think it would be a little too dark in a large tank and it's a larger grain.

I had the black sand before and it scratched the hell out of my glass. It would get caught in my mag float and make this horrible sound against the glass.

I used fiji pink and love it. I like the sugar sand look but it blows all over the place. The fiji pink does a nice job of being the right size but not blowing all over. It will move but not like the real fine sand

I've used fiji pink in the past and it was nice sand so my vote was for that - but wouldn't use anything but Tropic Eden now that I've tried it - extremely clean, white and uniform.

I have always gone with different grades of aragonite. I like the look of white sand. Imo while the others look nice the pink fiji just does not look clean.

I had the sugar fine before and that was nice. I changed to Fiji pink since i moved and had to rebuild and i like it also.

I found that to happen too. It would stick to the mag float like the sand was magnetized. I hate black sand now and will never use it again. I also found that the tank with the black sand would not grow coraline algae in it either. Not sure if that was because of the sand or not.

I heard that it was magnetic before. I know it was a huge pain to get out of the mag float once it got in there.

I'd vote for the Tropic Eden Reef Flakes. Nice size. Even at that size it moved around quite a bit with 2 Koralia 6's a 5 and a 3. Beautiful white as well.
